Echosmart Plantation Shutters

Echosmart plantation shutters are the same as our ultralight with the only difference are the available options.

Our Echosmart range offers Invisible Supatilt so you have no visible tilt rods, 2 way closing blades allowing you to close up or down. Hint: Closing your blades down can help keep more heat in as the hot air hits the blades and redirects back into the room instead of seeping out the joins.

100% Water Resistance

Polymer shutters are excellent for wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, as high moisture levels do not affect the material.

While Timber is resistant to moisture, it may not be the best choice in very humid conditions.

Polymer shutters are also an optimal pick for households in coastal areas and around lakes or rivers where humidity levels are higher.

Polymer shutters do not possess that same high strength to weight ratio as timber shutters. This means that if required to span long distances, they risk sagging in the middle. The factory has set limits on how wide we can make a panel and if wider panels are to be achieved; we recommend using a timber shutter.

We can mix and match and commonly install a mix of timber and polymer plantation shutters in a house.

UV Resistance

Modern PVC plantation shutters made with polymers resist ultraviolet light to avoid fading or becoming brittle. However, Polymer is still only recommended for internal use. We can do external applications using our external paint, though we would highly recommend using our Aluminium plantation shutter range.

For external use, where directly exposed to the harsh Australian climate, it’s best to look at aluminium plantation shutters.

Fire Resistance

With an autoignition temperature of around 400ºC (most hardwoods around 220ºC) Paulownia is reported to have a flame spreading rate considerably below most building codes
